Florida Jen-Do You Have a Vacation Name?

Vacation is upon us and my husband is wondering if Florida Jen will be making an appearance this week. Frankly, I think it’s the only reason he booked the trip; his fingers crossed he will get a glimpse of the rowdy and rambunctious woman he loves. Last year, I earned the nickname after a very spontaneous weekend getaway to Florida (sans kids) filled with no regulations, no plans, and no chores; there was so much laughter, we were blissfully surprised and fulfilled.

Ahh, Florida Jen. She’s a variation of this really cool and classy individual he met at a wedding back in 2003 and fell in love with soon after. She’s also mother to his three children; I’m so grateful he still craves my love and attention. Yet marriage, three kids, and full time jobs has made Florida Jen somewhat inaccessible and unavailable.

But, the good news is, I brought her along! Shh! She will make an appearance. She’s sitting in a swing by the pool and happily writing in silence. And, being the mustache has been shaved (see SOL Day 6), he will have no idea when Florida Jen hits him like a hurricane!

  2. Getting a little steamy at the end, Jen! I don’t have a vacation name, but if I did it would probably be something like “never wants to stay home, Glenda” or “she’s off again Glenda” since I’m always thinking about and planning the next adventure, which this year is in May and is a road trip on the Pacific Coast Highway.

  3. I don’t have a vacation name but my husband calls me Summer Wife during the summer break from school. She’s the wife he likes best. We are on spring break right now so I just turned to him and asked if Summer Wife was with him on vacation. He thought a moment and slowly responded, “Yeah.” I’n not convinced she’s here though. Love your slice. I might have to slice about Summer Wife who I’m hoping stays permanently when I retire at the end of the school year.

    1. I love how you asked your husband if he’s seen her on vacation! Summer Wife is a great name! And, congrats on your upcoming retirement.

If you do slice about her, let me know. I’d love to read it!

  4. My sisters wonder when “Summer Jackie” will make her appearance as the days get longer. When will Summer Jackie be available for coffee in the middle of the day? When will Summer Jackie be able to stay up pasted 9:30 p.m.? Will Summer Jackie respond to texts at times other than 6:30 a.m.?

    Love this post!
